Uploaded software for a MicroTek scanner and was unsuccessful, had to unload software and reload.

In the process I lost use of Keyboard. (PS/2 plug)

I have tried another Keyboard, and still nothing.
When Windows begins to load to try to pick up the keyboard, it locks up at the loading window screen until I hit the control or F4 Key. These are the only 2 keys that seem to work.

A friend suggested I format hard drive and reload windows.
(He gave me written instructions on how to do this.)
But even using an old or new boot disk, will I be able to use the keyboard to reformat?

    Using win 98 SE

    Is there any other way.

Also my son uploaded a PC game and the sound became distorted and then it stopped completely.
Not even, windows start up sounds.
I can live without the sound (but would like some suggestions since this other more important keyboard problem has risen.)

Please make suggestions in laymen terms as I am not a PC expert.

    Thanks

Went to safe mode and hit the enter/return button keyboard, it worked so I rebooted again into Windows real time, and keyboard works.

    Thank you.

Now back to the forum and repost about the sound problem.

    Again Thank you.
