I have a Dell laptop of an unknown variety running on Windows 8.1. My problem is, if I hit a key, there's a delay before the touchpad and buttons become functional again. My brother suggested not making the mouse disappear when typing, but that didn't work. Is it possible to change this or is it just how it is?

According to your computer specs, you appear to have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 laptop.

What's the "service tag" number and/or "express service code" number on it?

That'll confirm its identity and allow its support site to be accessed.

Here is the Dell support site that's assigned only to your Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 laptop.

You should add and save this site in your browser's favorites/bookmarks list so you can quickly refer to it when needed.

According to its original configuration, it shipped in April 2014 in the U.S.A. and came with Windows 8 64-bit.

I've never used Windows 8, so I'm not familiar with its settings.

Have you gone into the properties window for the keyboard and the mouse and checked their settings?

It appears to have a Synaptics (Dell) touchpad.
