Hi everyone, I was wondering if I can get some help with this issue.

Recently I installed a new copy of WinXP Pro onto my machine and everything was working correctly except for the Multimedia Buttons on my keyboard. Before, my keyboard ( Dell SK-8135 USB) worked perfectly. I tried everything from updating drivers to downloading repair kits. Finally after a restart, I noticed that the multimedia buttons worked but all my other buttons on the keyboard didn't!

I've tried uninstalling the driver, letting the computer pick up the keyboard but still no luck. Device Manager says everything is working correctly.
The keyboard functions in the BIOS but not in the OS (except for the music keys of course).
Does anyone have suggestions on what it would take for normal keys to work? Maybe something to be changed in the registry? Any help is appreciated!

What kind of keyboard? If Microsoft, install IntelliType Pro.

Try to undo whatever you did.

IntelliType pro did nothing. I ended up restoring my computer to yesterday and it fixed the issue. I don't get my multimedia keys though (n) If anyone still wants to help or knows a solution to the problem, i can also go back and switch it.

If it is a Microsoft keyboard, there will be no multimedia keys until IntelliType is installed. If another type, then the software for that type needs to be installed.

The keyboard and the multimedia keys worked before on the same computer before without any driver cds. Windows picked it up and assigned everything. (its not a microsoft keyboard btw). Its not a Dell Computer, it was custom built. I tried finding drivers for this model: SK-8135 but no luck =\ I tried downloading a program someone made to fix the problem for the multimedia keys (due to many users having the same problem with no driver help) and i have a feeling it changed some values in the reg.
