Some time ago, after the installation of some program or accidental modification of system settings (I'm guessing), I lost the volume nob control and the mute button control on my HP One Touch Multimedia Keyboard. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling the drivers from the HP Support Disk I recieved with my computer but now in addition to the sound controls, I've lost control of every other one touch button except for the standby button. This includes: internet, shortcut buttons, cd/dvd contol, etc. I searched around my system and the drivers are there: I can go to the Keyboard Manager and change settings, but the buttons don't work. I've searched through the entire forum but no solution applies directly to me. If it helps, I'm running win98SE on an HP 9680C computer. I'm not sure exactly what kind of keyboard it is (I don't know where to find the model #), but I'm guessing it is a USB obviously because it has a USB port in each side. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

You keyboard probably uses netropa multimedia software to control those functions. If you don't have netropa installed, you may need to install it. If you do, you may need to enable it at startup.

Netropa has made the software for every keyboard I have ever used.

http://www.netropa.com/

look for your keyboard software on their site. If you cannot find it. Email them and tell them that HP will not help and they will give you an ftp password to login to their server to download the proper software. They will send you a picture guide so you can point out your keyboard.

don't forget though that you probably still have your keyboard multimedia software installed and it is just not enabled. If it is a usb keyboard, a few other things may have to be enabled like Hidserv.

start>run>msconfig>startup>

i went to the netropa site but they didnt have the drivers for my model. they did, however, have a link to HP's website where i was able to download the correct drivers for my specific computer. but even after i downloaded and istalled these, it still doesnt work. i unistalled all of the old files, installed all of the new but now in the folder where the files are supposed to be theres just a huge mess of mixed old/new files and different folders that contain the same data which were put there by the download from HP. i went to the configuration settings (start>run>msconfig) and everything was selected. so unless you guys can help me, im still stuck.

ok. i solved the problem. for those of you who have a similar problem, here's how i fixed it. i went to device manager, and, since my keyboard is the USB internet multimedia keyboard with all the buttons for internet and shopping etc, click on Universal serial bus controllers, them composite device, and click remove. them hit refresh and your done. i feel like such an idiot because this was so easy to do. but thanks to Shadow2531 for replying.
