My daughter brought me her laptop to try to fix. It is an HP pavilion zv5000. Windows xp will power up but the keyboard is not responding. I am stuck at entering her password to get into Windows. Any suggestions on what to try to get past this? Thanks for any help!

Does the keyboard work to enter the BIOS of the laptop or to bring up the Windows startup menu to enter Safe Mode?

As a last resort you can try a USB keyboard.

No it will not allow me to press F8 to go to safe mode. I will buy a new keyboard and see if that works. I've found some cheap on ebay. Thanks.
