I'm trying to help a friend who has a keyboard problem. He is Swedish and has a computer built for Sweden with a keyboard showing the Scandinavian letters. Somehow his layout has been changed and is working as if it is US English so he can't get all his letters. I have tried to install the Swedish keyboard again but his computer says it cannot read the file - I have used a Windows 98 CD and have also tried copying the file kbdsw.kbd to a floppy but with no result.

It is also impossible to get the Swedish letters in Word using the Alt plus a number so he is unable to write in his own language and his keyboard has the wrong layout.

Can anyone tell me what to do?

Not real sure if this will help but you might try using Windows update and downloading the support for Swedish Language. There is a large selection of language support at the update site.
