I have a kindle Fire HD 7" I want to know if I can hook it up to the internet through my laptop. I am abroad, wifi is hard to find and the kindle has a free texting app that's awesome. I only have ethernet in my dorm, no wifi. Can I make this work somehow?

Some dorm rooms aren't allowed to have a wireless router. The campus's IT admin would freak.

You may be able to make you computer act as a router if it has a wifi card... something like this http://www.ehow.com/how_4740330_use-computer-router.html

However, as stated by Simba7 some dorms have strict rules against this.. The best thing would be to contact them and ask what their rules are towards a personal router (they may even be able to advise you the best way to do this).
