aarrgghhh. I 've been infected! Seems to be a familiar scenerio. Went on Kazaa..... norton can't clean out c:\Windows\system32\cmd32.exe

so I followed an earlier forum, mostly postings by Tony klein,(very helpful) and downloaded spybot and hijack this.

Now I'm up to the point where I need the expert advice! I'm not too sure what needs to be deleted. I've included my log for viewing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Kindly!

In Hijack This, check all of the following items, then close all browser windows, and press "Fix Checked":

F0 - system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd32.exe
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd32.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [CMD] cmd32.exe

Now restart your computer, and delete the C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd32.exe file itself.

Incidentally, unless you installed the MyBarSearch bar wittingly, go to Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall the program.

If no joy, have Hijack This fix these as well:

O2 - BHO: myBar BHO - {0494D0D1-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWAY\MYBAR\1.BIN\MYBAR.DLL

O3 - Toolbar: &SearchBar - {0494D0D9-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWAY\MYBAR\1.BIN\MYBAR.DLL

Then restart your computer, and delete the C:\Program files\Myway folder.

Wow. That worked like a charm. Thanks a million for your help Tony!

Is there anything (short of staying off kazaa) that I can do to prevent kwbot from infecting again?

Once again, great help! great website!

take care-
