lacks the - app seperator, not system administrator

    I found how to fix my error message system lacks the - app seperator. However, system tells me I am not the administrator and will not let me inactivate the Compaq Connections from the start up menu. This is my home pc, I am the only user. How do I tell it I am the administrator? I am a beginner at this type of issue.
