    Hi

If theres lag in multiplayer but none in single player i don't thinks its due to the graphics levels. Lag in multiplayer is determined by ping, which looks fine on your computer. Sorry I've never played GTA 4 but does it show the ping on online games? The ping test you showed- was that a generic ping test from the net or was it from GTA 4?

If your ping is below 100 then you shouldn't notice any lag at all.

    Hope it helps

It was a generic test. I cant seem to find ping or Internet speed info on GTA 4 or 'Games for Windows - Live' (the programe with the multiplayer runs through). I read a comment somewhere that GTA 4 doesn't use ping...not shure if thats true or not though.

    Thanks for the help

Are you the only one on that wireless connection?

    Hi

Doesn't use ping? I'm not sure then how the game's multiplayer would work. If you could find some indication of how fast the game is meant to go in the multiplayer lobby that would be very useful. Ping in games or any connection speed isn't just to do with the internet connection, but also with the way the games maker has set up their servers. Though if you have a download speed that high it really shouldn't lag. Is the lag a constant drain on your speed, or is it like a spike of freezing every while?

Megabite - No, there are two other laptops that are sometimes used but i've played the game from when it's just me and it's the same.

Cardboard Box - Sometimes it's a few seconds of freezing and stuttering but other times I join a game and all the other players movements are looped and I get thrown out. I'll have to look up how fast the game is supposed to go in multiplayer.

    Thanks for the input

If you can hook up direct would be the best test........so you can eliminate the Router being the cause

You could post your HijackThis log and see if anything shows up

    Download HijackThis to your desktop
    • Double click on HJTSetup.exe on your Desktop
    • Click Run and Install
    • It will install to Program files by default
    • it will launch Hijack This
    • Click on "scan system and save a logfile" usually in notepad
    • Copy and Paste the logfile in your next post
    • Using Ctrl+A to copy All and Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.

No ....it would only be a test

I hope you shut off uTorrent before playing

You could also try this free utility that will turn off background programs before playing ...I use it and it works
