I just reformatted my pc to xp and now when I go to network conections nothing appears. When I do ipconfig nothing shows up. If I try to make a network it says It can't find hardware. I have a RCA modem and netgear router.

You will need to find the drivers that makes your computer support Windows XP. Is your machine a branded machine like Dell or HP?

Have you downloaded and installed the drivers? Use your Service Tag for easier searching on Dell's web site. Unless there are specific instructions for your model install the chipset first, then the networking, then any others needed.

Did you get a Dell Drivers CD with the PC? If so, the drivers on there may be good enough to get internet access, and then you can more easily get the updated ones.
