Recently I’ve not been able to connect to certain sites.

I use a LAN connection and am also able to connect using a dial-up modem. For some reason, the sites that I can’t connect to with my LAN connection are accessible using dial-up.

Until a few days ago, I was always able to access any site from the LAN connection. I can’t think of anything has changed in my setup. I have all privileges for my LAN connection.

    Any comments will be welcomed.

How does this "LAN connection" access the Internet? This has the earmarks of a routing or DNS issue, but without knowing anything about the network or the type of connection, that's just a guess.

John is right. We need to know on what kind of connection is and if there is local router or its basicaly switched fiber network or something like that.
Can you also post domains of those sites. They might've changed their server IP's or they might be on sharing IP with other domains and your local DNS servers didn't propagate it yet. If thats the case it should clear up in a few days.
It could also be routing issue which you should troubleshoot with traceroutes.
If you're on windows go to start-run and type cmd
On the dos prompt type tracert www.sitename.com and enter and see where traces are stopping.
If you're using BSD or Linux then probably i don't need to tell you how to do it.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific. I access the internet through a combined ADSL modem/router. I share the connection with one other person.

The problem is much improved now that I’ve restarted the router. Should really have done this before panicking!!
