Folks- Battery recalls are something to take very seriously- I have had a laptop ( Not a Dell, was an IBM ) here explode while I was working on it, the result was a very nasty burn to my hand, nasty black sooty smoke all through the place and of course some frayed nerves and a ruined computer, the owner didn't tell me that there was an ongoing problem with the battery seeming to never really reach 100% charge....it overheated and went Pow! and flames came out of it 20 inches high. Oh and by the way, if you ever have a notebook or laptop actually burn, do NOT pour water on it, that can result in an even greater explosion and fire, lithium batteries explode when touched by water. Use a fire extinguisher, or at least smother the flames with something (I used a big towel) be careful, take the thing outside but definitely, don't pour water on it.

In the last Dell recall which was for DC power adapters, they sent out boxes for you to send your old ones back in, they were very prompt and the new one worked very well- I had customers who used the recalled models and was able to get them all replaced easily.
