The Sony price is far too expensive! is there a way to remove the window?

Yes the battery fits and works fine, it is just the window I can't get rid of due to the fact that it isn't a sony branded battery.

Ok, my apologies in that case.

What exactly does the window say?

Just put the new battery in the laptop to view the message and it has not done it! wonder if it was just a warning to let me know that it wasn't a sony official battery?

How strange. Maybe it just gives you a one-off warning or something.

Let us know if it happens again.

turned on laptop this morning and the message has returned the box is titled Caution and reads,

The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer.

click "OK" to enter Hibernate mode, and remove and reinsert the battery.

See the electronic VAIO(R) user guide for more infiormation about using the battery.

Best bet is to contact the company/person you purchased the battery from. Chances are they will have heard of this problem before (considering they sell the batteries) and will either know a fix, or know what to do.
