I assume you want this for gaming based on the product type?
Personal opinions are:
15.6" Screen - A little small for any real gaming in my opinion.
GTX1650 - Entry level gaming GPU
HDD is SATA not SSD which will impact overall performance/loading screens etc
Thanks. Even though this is a gaming model, I do not play games. I chose it only because it looks good for graphics work, which I do as a hobby. A bit of vector and 3D.
I also do some very minor VS Code and Android Studio. 3D rendering is hard on CPU and a GPU appeared nice.
I cannot project myself looking for a graphics laptop as I am in search of a mid-tier model. This model offer 8 GB RAM addition and up to 1 TB SSD addition.
I think I can use an external monitor using HDMI.
Appreciate your response about GPU. I hope these will be able to run Windows and Ubuntu for another 3 - 4 years.
I asked for help mainly because I do not want to buy lesser-known hardware and get skipped while searching for drivers.
If its not for gaming then the GPU will be find and wont have any issues with running normal Windows/Ubuntu apps etc. As a hobby piece then I dont see why it wont do the job, I would go for the SSD and the additional RAM though as that will certainly help with reducing rendering times.
JKLE:
Since you plan to use that laptop connected to an external monitor, you will lose the ability to be portable with it, so why don't you buy a PC instead?
Besides a PC being more reliable and less prone to damage than a laptop, it will give you more hardware upgrade options.
How do the above specs fare against i5 11 th Gen 2.5 GHz ?
