My laptop connects to the internet and is able to browse but programs & apps acts like they are not connected to the internet, examples like OneDrive is stuck on signing in, Sticky Notes can not detect internet, Can not use Windows Update, Weather says there is no internet, can not use search bar etc...an example image

It wasn't always like this, when I troubleshoot I get "Windows can't automatically detect this network's settings" and sometimes instead of signals I see "Connected but No Internet, secured"

I appreciate it if I can get help figuring this out so I can use my laptop normally!

Have you tried tweaking the "Firewall & network protection" settings in Windows? I would also look at your router settings to make sure you aren't inadvertently blocking ports or protocols.

You said that you have a CGM4140COM by Technicolor modem/wireless router so it is rather misleading or confusing to say "no router."

22 devices connected
That tells anyone reading that you have more than just a modem! A modem allows exactly one device to connect. When my router died, I could connect 1 computer to it so we had only 1 device able to get on the internet.

Oh, I thought modem and routers are separated things, my mistake

You have a device called a gateway. It is a combination modem and router.
I was hoping to find a manual but all I come up with is an unhelpful 6 page user's guide.

I would like to update

I connected to someone else's internet and restarted my laptop, several times and it was consistently normal with the programs detecting internet

Does this mean there is a conflict with my network and my laptop even though others devices are fine?

Can you go to device manager and see the status of wifi drivers under network adaptors?

I was wondering if you have any other suggestions because I tried the Lan settings too
Not really; I was thinking of making the same suggestion to make sure all those choices are not selected. I'm not very familiar with Windows 10.

Do you have any "security" software (ZoneAlarm, Norton, McAfee, etc.) other than what is included in Windows? If so, uninstall it and run their Removal Tool if one is provided.
