I got an old laptop as a gift, and after using it for a month, it gave me a stop error when rebooting (nt32.dll I think....). Being lazy, I decided to re-install Windows, hoping this would clear up the issue.
Strangely, the installation process took 24 hours and more and half way though, the computer simply went dead. It won't even respond now when I press the power button. I've kind of given up on it, but just out of curiosity it there anything I can try to do to fix it that doesn't involve using a soldering iron and immense amounts of techie training :)

    Thanks!

My best guess is that something overheated and fried, motherboard or cpu. That's a long time to leave it during an install procedure.

    Dead, its an EX-COMPUTER!

Not even a 486 with 16mb of RAM takes takes more than an hours to install Windows95 (which is the longest) - by CD-ROM... floppy install in a different story! (25floppied HAHAH! Man, I only did that once for a customer or two... nightmare: Insert disk1... insert disk 4, insert disk7, insert disk 1 - just for adding a modem or something)

Hey... it didn't cost ya anything at least.
