    Hi,

My Laptop doesn't start at all, it has power and the light indicates that power is on but when i press the power button to turn on the laptop nothing happens at all. No screen (Blank Screen), Fan doesn't even start. It's like that the power button is broken or something o_O

Laptop model: Acer Extensa 5235 Series
    Model No.: ZR6
OS Version: Windows 7 Home (32 bit)
    HDD: 250 GB
    RAM: 3 GB

I really don't know how to solve this.

Any Solution will be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the battery is fried? A similar situation was experienced by my mother whom had to replace the laptop's battery.

Try pulling the battery and unplug the power cord. Hold down the power button on the laptop for about 30 seconds. Leave the battery out and plug the power card in and power it on. Did the system come up.

So when you push the power button the power light comes on, But there's no fan. Can you hear the hard drive spin up? It could be as easy as a bad power switch, a bad power supply or as bad as a blown main board.

In the past I've found that removing and refitting the hard drive and memory can revive dead laptops, it might also be that there is a problem with the laptop memory, if possible try an alternative stick of memory. If that doesn't cure it then I'm afraid it sounds like there's a problem with your mainboard, if you take it to a specialist repairer they may be able to repair it, if not then it's new laptop time I'm afraid.

    Thanks for replying ttifrum

uhm not sure what really happened but after repeatedly pushing the power button and throwing it on my bed it turned on the laptop, I noticed it after couple of minutes that the fan turned on.

Did a restart and still working!!!

Are there any tests I can perform?

Throwing it on my bed! WOW! and it worked! Well something to try when I'm working on the next laptop... Just kidding mind you. This is definitely a hardware issue.

Backup All Your Important data right away whether to USB or DVD. It is a lose connection somewhere so this needs to be looked at hands on.

    Hi,

I just noticed that I know what the problem is so I just wanted to make sure if it could be related to my hardware issue:

I check the system time of the laptop and it stuck at few days ago. This also happened few times few weeks ago but I took no notice of it.

So my question is can a failing CMOS battery stop a laptop from turning on like when you press the power button and nothing happens or works?

The computer should still post with a dead battery. The bios will load default setting on bootup.
