My laptop does not start up any more.

The battery might be broken, but also with/wihout inserted battery, the laptop does start when powered by the regular 220V power cable.

    What does this siound like?

A great many thanks in advance.

Sounds like it is a bad battery. There are places online that you can buy a new battery from for your laptop.

Goodspeed: again: this is not a battery issue, the power cable should be able to take over, would not it?

DustyJay: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M Series.

I guess it has something to do with the electronic circuit. Bu who knows...

So, assuming I have read your post correctly, the laptop starts up when it's plugged into the mains (with and without the battery inserted) but does not start when you try to run it from the battery on it's own? That certainly sounds like a battery problem to me.

A faulty battery can stop a laptop running even when it is plugged into the mains.

Sorry guys, wrong original input from my side, apologies..
The laptop does NOT work WITH power cable either.
Nothing to do with the battery.

Sounds like it could be a bad Charger/Wall Adapter.
