At first I thought it was just online videos, but I've found that it's also when I type - like this post. Every few moments my typing will freeze momentarily, just like videos. Something is causing my computer to do this, but I have no idea what. It only started doing this recently.

There could be many reasons for this what i'd recommend you do first is go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools and run a disk clean making sure to click clear temp folders. after that you should go to > all programs > accessories > system tools again and run a Disk Defragment on your Primary drive a couple of times. This can take awhile.

I have a Samsung R580 with Windows 7. I have a C: and D: drive with 100 GB and 350 GB respectively. If I run a disk defragmenter, I guess I'd have to do it on each drive.

Do you have antivirus installed on the computer?

Are there any symptoms of malware?

I have antivirus (I'll have to look), and I regularly scan for malware with Malwarebytes Antimalware.

@Phantom, I'll try the safe mode later today. Thanks.

First , I suggest CCleaner to clean out junks and all broken or invalid registries ,
Also use CCleaner tool to disable unnecessary programs running in the back ground , these can borg down your system .

My advice is to stay as far away as you possibly can from Registry Cleaners, Boosters, Optimizers, TuneUp Utilities... You'll only end up crippling programs and the operating system beyond repair! These programs are completely useless and will delete what they don't understand and legitimate files still in use.

Keep in mind that they will always find "errors" to fix, even on a fresh Windows installation!

Sorry for the delay - moving/new job. I did a disk defragmenter with no change. I cleaned out the temp files, also. No change. Pretty aggravating problem, especially when watching videos.

Have you installed any system defragmenter program in your laptop to increase the speed? Now days many fake system defragmenter available in the market ,be careful. If you are using some kinds of system defragmenter in your pc then in my opinion first of all uninstall that system defragmenter from your PC. Apart from t his scan your computer with powerful and updated Anti-virus or Anti-Spyware programs because in most of the cases system slow down due to virus or spyware infection.

I tried Safe Mode, but Disk Defragmenter wouldn't open. I checked Task Manager, and it wasn't even a running application, so I don't think it can run while in Safe Mode, unless there's something I don't know.

Any other suggestions? My computer is still freezing up momentarily every few seconds.

The reason for trying Safe Mode was not to run the defragmenter, which will, like most of the time, be useless.

I was asking you if your computer was freezing in Safe Mode.
