I switched from 175Mbp/s to 800Mbp/s today and ran a speed test and my laptop is still getting about 55Mbp/s download speed. I tested my PS5 too and it got 75Mbp/s wireless and did get to 713Mbp/s wired.
Are there settings that need to be changed on the router itself to see higher speeds over wireless?
Try restarting the devices to see if this helps.
With the laptop the speed may be limited by the wifi adapter. Is it capable of more than 55Mbps?
Check for any WiFi driver updates.
Did you run a separate speed test with the wireless device and the ethernet device?
If you do, you will probably discover the download speed is noticeably higher with the ethernet device.
Of course, that depends on which wireless and ethernet devices you have in your laptop.
A description (brand name, model name, model number) of your laptop would be helpful.
Okay so I plugged the PS5 into the ethernet and it's giving me 713Mbps down, which is great.
As for my laptop connected to the 5GHz band, it's giving me like 35Mbps on that actually. My router/modem is MT7711 and my wireless card on my laptop is a Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A. It's actually giving me faster speeds of about 50-60Mbps on the 2.4GHz band.
The Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A wireless device can provide download speeds up to 867 Mbps.
But it's not going to get anything close to that if it's using the 2.4 GHz band.
You still haven't told us what download speed your laptop gets when it uses a wired ethernet connection.
The Motorola MT7711 modem/router can provide download speeds up to 650 Mbps.
Because you now have a 800 Mbps download speed plan, you may need a modem/router upgrade.
