Laptop Hardrive to Desktop

My laptop recently died on me without me having a chance to back-up my files.

I took the hardrive out of the laptop and was wanting to know the easiest and cheapest way of transfering the files on the hardrive to my desktop PC.

I have included some pictures of the hardrive to help understand what type it is:

That's an IDE drive. You will need an adapter to connect it to the desktop. What kinds of internal connections do you have available on the desktop? If you have a free IDE, then all you need is a (cheap) adapter.

You could buy an external case and use the drive as an external for more money.

I ended up buying an HDD enclosure but cheers for the advice anyway

That is the best idea so that you can use an external for storage, but not the cheapest.
