My laptop has been constantly turning on and off while I am in the middle of doing something and I don't know what the issue might be. Is there any way to get back unsaved files before it turned off by itself ?

When you are creating a file on a computer, the computer is manipulating it in RAM (random access memory). Why? Because it would be painfully s-l-o-w to try and do it from a hard drive.

But, because RAM forgets everything the instant it loses power you need to save your file to the hard drive. Hard drives may be s-l-o-w but, they are designed to store files without the need for power.

So, if you have not ever saved the file you were working on in RAM to the hard drive, as soon as the computer shuts down, whatever was in RAM is gone forever. If you've ever saved what you were working on the hard drive though, the state the file was in whenever you saved it should still be available on the hard drive.

    Make sense?
