Thread Starter
So I spilled some grape soda earlier today, and some of it may have gotten into my laptop. It's lagging quite a bit now and I'm not sure of the cause (it could be a virus, but I ran quick scans in both MalwareBytes and Microsoft Security Essentials), so I'm a bit worried. Here's my HJT log:

If you spilled something on to the laptop & it isn't working properly why did you report it as a possible malware issue

What makes you think that malware is involved & not the spilled grape juice

I've been getting a few virus pop-ups from MSE lately and I believe they could be related. Of course it could be the Grape too, I just want to explore all of the possibilities. I also noticed my CPU was running at nearly 100% during these lag spikes.

First, when ever you spill anything on your laptop, the first thing to do is turn it off, clean and dry it (Internally too). Drying can actually take several days, if it is a sugary or acidic liquid this should be removed with distilled water or better de-ionized water, before the drying process begins. Running the laptop with out proper cleaning and drying, most often causes damage due to shorting and corrosion.

Well I didn't spill anything on the inside, just a tiny bit on the keyboard (which is separated, I know because I've taken it apart before), which I cleaned up. Thanks for the info though, I'll remember this if it ever happens again. So what of my log? Anything shifty?

nothing jumps out at me in teh logs but HJT only shows about 10% of current malware so
follow advice here and post the logs those programs make in your next reply here
depending on what is seen I will move to appropriate forum for further help or troubleshooting
