I have had a toshiba Satellite for a few years. Let me tell you i have had nothing but problems with it hard drive crashed, cd-w/dvd rom stoped reading dvds (i replaced that). I have recently had the computer turn of after any process that makes the processer work for a long period of time i.e Virus scan. I noticed the Fan was not working correctly so i replaced it. Same thing computer turns off. I noticed the processer is burning hot after its working for a long time. I also tried re-applying the heatsink gel, no good. Could it be the heatsink it self ?

    Howdy,

Artic Silver 5 is a good Thermal Paste.....

Is the Intake at the bottom of the Laptop?

Did you clean the heatsink out also?

Yes i cleaned the heat sink. The fan is in the bottom of the laptop. It seems like the fan is blowing out cold air it use to blow out the hot air. The laptop runs well beside the over heating.

Have you put the Fan in the correct way ......not upside down or reversed it some how as that would account for cool air coming out.
