The power cable on my new laptop keeps falling out of its loose round fitting and I am finding the battery flat.

    Will I lose my data?

If the notebook is out of the box new (or even used) there should be nothing that is so loose that it falls out.

Can you post the brand and model name or number of the notebook so we can do some research.

As an asides, unless it is a gaming notebook you should when possible use only the battery or the AC adaptor to power the notebook and only connect both to recharge the battery when needed, when at home I remove the fully charged battery and use the AC adaptor.
