    Hi

    First post here.. nice forum!

I'm looking to replace my laptop in the coming months, I've been looking over what brands are available and what people think about them, so far I've been able to narrow it down to Lenovo, Dell, Apple and HP being the best (Apparently). I'm not looking to buy an Apple Mac (Too expensive). Has anyone had any particularly good experiences with any certain brands of laptops? my useage is mostly office, development and media centre.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

    A.

Never having a laptop. Just going by brand name and my opinion.

Lenovo - No, had their trouble with Superfish spyware

Dell - would be my choice.

Apple - you are right, too expensive

HP - No, had trouble with a desktop that had to be returned numerous times. (power/motherboard issues).

Tell us your budget and as much as you can about what you want from the new laptop like screen size, is weight and/or battery life important etc.

@ Joe - Thank you for your comments, I never knew about the Superfish thing. Will be looking a lot more into that.

    @ Managed

I'd like to stay around the £200 - £300 mark. Maybe a little more if the laptop's really worth it.

Hard drive size would need to be anything 500GB or over.
Screen size 15 inches or over.
Battery life, reliability and performance are important.
Something stylish would also be great.
Weight is not something I'm much bothered about.

I should also mention I am a Linux user, I have no desire to use Windows.

That's pretty much all I can think of, if you need any more info please ask

    Thanks
    A.
