Hello,

I'm trying to install Vista Basic Home and when its completing installation (the last part) the laptop powers down and it doesn't finish the install. When the laptop turns back on it says the installation was not successful and reverts back to XP. Anyone got an idea whats going on?

Had same problem... You have to uninstall "Intel Graphics Driver GMA950". Your screen will look funny. Now install Vista and it will reinstall the driver for you.

Note: This worked for me, but I'm running a Compaq Presario C500. But this seems a fairly common problem.

This is why I usually don't do UPGRADES. I tend to do fresh installs. It's much cleaner. Just my 2 cents.
