Not a whole lot of information to work on.

Any chance you can let us know the brand and model number of the printer and how it is supposed to be communicating with the laptop?

What have you done so far to add the printer to your computer's list of available printers? Are there any error messages being reported?

The laptop is a dell celeron 600, the printer is a HP C4180 Photosmart, also there is a wireless router (belkin) the desktop is a dell XP 2350. Yes there is a error that says that it can not locate the printer that it might be typed incorrectly and to ck the connection. Yes the desktop printer is showing to allow sharing.

Could not tell from your first post that another computer was involved. Your profile mentions Windows XP. Is that on both computers?

You mention "laptop printer" in your first post which makes me think that the printer has a USB cable to the laptop but then you mention a desktop printer in your second post. Can you please give a full description on exactly how all of the hardware involved connects to each other.

Is the desktop machine turned on? Is the printer set to share in the printer settings on the desktop computer?

Did this ever work?

Try removing the printer from the laptop's list of available printers and adding it back again. Had a similar problem with a Canon printer a while ago and that worked for me.
