Hey, I've been having this problem with my laptop's wifi for a while now and it's been getting a little out of hand lately that I can't deal with it anymore. I asked some friends and they seem to have the same problem too but not nearly as often as I do. Every so often, my laptop's wifi just stops working so I turn it off and then turn it back on and it starts working again. My friend says it happens very rarely to him but for me just today it happened 2 times within 10 minutes. Just wondering what I can do here to make this problem go away. Thanks.

Do you have the same problem with an ethernet connection?

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver. Assuming you are using an integrated adapter get the driver from the laptop manufacturer's web site..

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 8 or 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

    Also show ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

The Networks page is the default one you see when you run Xirrus.

Here is the networks default window page when I opened Xirrus

I also ran a ping test on pingtest.com and this was the result:

I ran the connection test and it passed for every category. And I also ran a speed test with this result:

Yeah, I thought my router was working fine, but it was my laptop's wifi problem. It loses connection to the wifi (it's still connected to the router but can't access the internet) until I manually turn it off and back on again. After that it seems to work fine again. I wouldn't mind doing this every so often, but sometimes I have to do this every 10 minutes, and it becomes a big hassle. Do I have to upgrade my wifi software? How do I do that?

Most OEMs supply drivers in self-extracting self-installing executables.
