    I am considering buying a laptop pc, never had one before so any advise before i buy would be appreciated.

    Basically i want at least a 1gig laptop with a dvd player.

    I was looking at the IRIDIUM S505 CE 1300MHz, but i have not heard of this make, so does anyone use one and can you recommend it?

    Anyhow any one with experence in buying laptops i would be interested in your opinion.

    I personally wouldn't ever buy a laptop for home use. If it were for business and travel I would get the sturdiest and lightest one I could find with the best battery life. Laptops are expensive and even more expensive to repair so also make sure you get a great warranty.

    depends on what you wanna do with it. Acers, and toshibas travel very well, Dell's and Sonys (I heard) don't travel so well.

    Personally I would not buy a Celeron...

    Well thanks for the comments guys, much appreciate it although still a bit confused, so i bit the bullet and at the price i payed i just bought an ACER Aspire 1300xv, athlon1500 xp, dvd, 256 ram,
    It looks good so far and im looking forward to using it.
