I am considering buying a laptop pc, never had one before so any advise before i buy would be appreciated.

Basically i want at least a 1gig laptop with a dvd player.

I was looking at the IRIDIUM S505 CE 1300MHz, but i have not heard of this make, so does anyone use one and can you recommend it?

I was looking here as i need to buy it in the uk http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/reviews/info.php?code=GG9745#ourreview

Anyhow any one with experence in buying laptops i would be interested in your opinion.

thx...rob

I personally wouldn't ever buy a laptop for home use. If it were for business and travel I would get the sturdiest and lightest one I could find with the best battery life. Laptops are expensive and even more expensive to repair so also make sure you get a great warranty.

depends on what you wanna do with it. Acers, and toshibas travel very well, Dell's and Sonys (I heard) don't travel so well.
