I have set up EIGRP for my business, I get a large overhead delay with it. when I set up static routes it works faster. how can I fix my problem with the large overhead?

Pretty hard to say, is this with Cisco equipment? I think I'd have to ask Cisco and see what their take is.

EIGRP is a Cisco proprietary routing protocol.

How is your network set up and which devices are sharing EIGRP routing information?

I know, that's why I asked to make sure we were actually talking about the right thing. ;)

Just making sure. I figured you knew since you brought up Cisco. But just wanted to make it clear.

I am going to check the topology, but maybe i have some discontiguos network addresses so I need to disable auto-summary? could that be what is causing the overhead?

When you say its causing overhead, what do you mean? Do you mean it takes too long to converge? Or it is causing congestion due to too many hello packets? Are you running any other routing protocols?
