hello: recently i had a safe mode prob, which was resolved but due to this prob 2 of my drives r lost ( cd drive - m & my dvd drive- n). recently i told someone at my job about this prob & his advice was to : click start, go to run, type m: bar, click o k, click on either install or setup, dbl click on either one of them & then he says that by doing this i should follow the directions that come up & this procedure will copy all its info onto the hard drive. then he says that this procedure will also say that in order for its advice to take advice to take effect i would have to "shut down" the computor & supposedly i will have my drives back. now my ques 2 u is should i take his advice & do this procedure or should i wait & see what everyone on this site tells me? i am running windows m e .......... thanx 4 anyone's help............

Go into the Device manager, un-install the drives, then re-install the drives. That should work.
