Are you not able to connect the phone to the laptop with its USB cable and upload the pictures that way?

You don't need a 3rd party program.
When you connect the phone to the computer, do you get a message on the phone that says allow access to files? If so, click allow.
When you open Windows Explorer in Windows 10, do you see your phone?

If you expand the phone's contents, do you see folders?
If you don't see any folders, scroll down from the top of the phone screen until you see notifications. If you see one that says USB charging with "click to see more options" click that.
You should then get a choice besides charging to move files. That what you need to enable to see the files.

If you have a card in your phone for extra storage, the pictures are probably in there.
Look for a DCIM folder. (It can be either on the internal storage on on the sd card in the phone; you can look in both if you have two DCIM folders).
Expand it until you see camera. Open camera and your pictures will be in there.
