Lenovo thinkpad connection problem

So I have a connection problem with my lenovo thinkpad t61p computer. It is not our wireless connection as far as I know because other computers connections are fine when connected to our wireless connection. My problem is when i download files or open up certain online pages. It will only load up a partial amount of the file then stop. If i were to leave it wouldn't download even after many hours. But if I open up a new web page then the download will continue. It will then stop soon after again. How do i fix this. It is frustrating to open a webpage 5 times for a file to download completely.

Computer OS: Windows Vista
Browser: IE

Already Tried:
I have gone to network connections. I have updated my drivers. I have done a system restore. and i have also typed in a short hand response to my prblem but saw no answers online
