I turn on my laptop and there's nothing for me to click on. It boots up normally but then there's just a black screen. I can move my mouse around and see it moving around but there's nothing to click on.

1. Press ctrl+alt+del to open Task Manager.
2. Click on File at the top left and select New Task (Run)
3. Type in
Code:
explorer.exe
4. Click okay.

Tap the F8 key just after switching on and if you get a menu try 'Last known good configuration', if that doesn't work restart the computer and tap F8 again but choosing 'Safe Mode' and if offered 'System Restore' on a window see if there is a restore point before the problem started and select that.

Are you sure your keyboard works?
Ctrl + alt + del should work on a black screen.

It boots up normally
Explain what you mean by this.
What does boots up normally mean to you? What do you see before the black screen?
