Just purchased a new Lexmark printer/scanner model X1185 and at same time a four way USB hub. Install same and tried to install printer driver software but it treys to detect printer and is "unable to communicate". Contacted Lexmark support and they told me I had to have a powered hub so I bit the bullet and purchased a powered hub, same problem. After contacting hub manufacture and Lexmark again I decided to try to bypass the on board ports by installing a StarTech 6 port USB 2.0 PCI card. Same problem. Additionally machine did not seam to recognizer the pcicard.
I am begging to suspect the I need to upgrade motherboard/CPU/BIOS/memory which I am want to do anyway. I'm running Windows 2000 with following hardware:
Board: First International Computer, Inc. AZ11 PCB 1.X
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG 08/03/2000
128 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'DIMM1' has 128 MB
Slot 'DIMM2' is Empty
Slot 'DIMM3' is Empty

any help would be appreciated
