Where are you buying your cables?
I've had an android tablet since 2014, another since 2016, a phone since 2017 and the last tablet since 2019 and I haven't had any cable go bad.
I also keep cables in the cars (micro USB and USB C).

I buy cables from places like Ollies, BigLots, and Five Below stores. (I prefer 6 foot, close to 2 m, cables to the small length that comes with the device.) I keep the shorter cables in the car. You might not have these shops in Canada.
The brands are BYTECH, Monoprice and PNY.
The monoprice one came from monoprice. Shipping is expensive so I wait until they offer reduced or free shipping on a certain size order.

Looks like a Canadian company carries the cables https://www.primecables.ca/b-13-Monoprice

Here's smartphone and tablet cables section

To add to the list, amazon.com / amazon.ca would be another good source.
