Hello DianeWing! Welcome to the forum.

On the surface it sounds like you wired it correctly. You might want to pull a bit on the wires and make sure they're in the wire nut securely. Also, check and see if there is a white wire coming from the light kit. Some fan/light kits they have one white wire; others they have two.

Also, recall there is an on/off switch ( a pull chain) on the side of the canopy for the light kit. Make sure it is turned on.

Ok. Do you have a multimeter? Are you comfortable using it?

Did any of the fan/light come assembled, or did you have to put it together? Many of the newer ones, the light kit have quick connectors for the wires where the fan light base connects to the fan. So you should have connected the black/ blue and the white/ white with the wires coming through the fan.

Is it convenient to take pics? One pic showing the wiring configuration between the fan-light unit and the bottom of the fan where it connects; and one showing the wiring configuration at the top of the fan (where it is connected to the wires coming through the ceiling) would be helpful.

Since this is a brand new installation, I tend to start with a wiring consideration (either something with the fan or the installation). Then consider a possible issue with the fan-light unit.
