I am having an issue connectivity of internet over the local area network from vista laptop to my desktop.
    This is my configuration:

HP Laptop with vista ultimate SP1 (custom install as the system was shipped with XP)

Custom build desktop with Ubantu 9.04 and vista Ultimate SP1.

I connect to internet via Maxom BP3-EXT Telstra modem. The modem is connected to the Laptop, so internet sharing is done via laptop to my desktop via a cross-over cable.

Till yesterday everything was smooth and running perfect. I could access internet on both ubantu as well as vista from my desktop.

However since morning, I am having no connectivity on the desktop, and the message I get for my LAN is limited connectivity.

this is my whole ipconfig details:

    ipconfig/all (for laptop)

yes I did follow all the steps as descibed in the article, now I have local acess and no internet connectivity with vista on the desktop, while no connectivity with ubantu,
I even removed my network drivers and reinstalled them.
    the did this

    C:\netsh winsock reset

    Sucessfully reset the Winsock Catalog.
You must restart the computer in order to complete the reset.

I restarted the computer, checked the cables, they are working fine as I now have local acess only however no internet sharing with only vista on desktop.

I would uninstall the network adapter in device manager, restart the PC and windows will reinstall it clean.

I even did that (unistalling the netwrok adapters), I have no idea, why would my laptop not share internet, as I am able to browse the files on the laptop, via desktop, it has local access only now, atleast a step forward from limited access. I have enabled the internet sharing.
I even disabled IPV6 connectivity but to no avail.

    anymore suggestions please.

Since the problem is with windows and ubuntu, this suggests the problem is with the network adapter or the modem that connects you to the internet or any other device that is inbetween them, like a router or switch,
