Well this problem has been happening for a few months now. I would log on and a message would pop up saying "An unauthorized change has been made to windows...resulting in limited functionality". It gives me the option to learn more or close. When this happens I would just go to safe mode and do a system restore and I would be able to log just fine.

Yesterday this problem happened again, but this time my system restore points seem to have been deleted so I cannot find a way to get into my normal account. It's really starting to stress me out.. I've provided the logs required of me, hopefully someone can help me out. I'm a college student and it's pretty important that I get this computer working again. I'd be happy to give you guys additional info if needed. Thank you!!!

A trained and qualified gold/blue shield member is going to need to assist you with your DDS and GMER logs.

Running a scan and saving a log with HiJackThis while in safe mode doesn't allow all its entries to be displayed like it does in normal mode.

Your computer appears to be infected.

Are you using a legal version of Windows Vista SP1, and has it been previously activated?

Thanks for the reply,

I'm sorry, but I can't enter my normal mode and save things at the moment. It will only let me have a browser open when I click the "Learn more" button.

I'm using the windows vista that came with my laptop so I assume it's legal...By activated do you mean register? I believe I did that too...

Your laptop appears to be a Dell brand.

Advise what the model name and model number is, and also advise what the 7-character service tag number on the sticker is.

-------------------------------------------------------

Did you buy that laptop new, and did it come with Windows Vista pre-installed?

I purchased the laptop brand new from dell's website. It's an Inspiron 1525 and the service tag # is BLW30H1. I have the little sticker of windows vista authenticity if that matters at all. Thank you.

According to that service tag number, here is the Dell Support site that's specific ONLY to your Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop.

You should add and save this site in your browser favorites/bookmarks list so you can readily refer to it whenever needed.

The warranty period was between 12/12/2008 and 12/12/2009 and has expired.

It came with Windows Vista(32-bit) pre-installed.

If it becomes necessary for you to revert that laptop back to its original condition when you first bought it, here are the instructions from the on-line service manual:

Dell Factory Image Restore

1. Turn on the computer. When the Dell logo
appears, press <F8> several times to access
the Vista Advanced Boot Options Window.

2. Select Repair Your Computer.

3. The System Recovery Options window
appears.

4. Select a keyboard layout and click Next.

5. To access the recovery options, log on as a
local user. To access the command prompt,
type administrator in the User name
field, then click OK.

Be aware that doing this will cause you to lose all your personal data, so you need to save it before you do it.

Here is the Dell support contact site.
