I have a Netgear router WGR614 connected to my cable internet feed. I have just purchased a DVD player that has wired internet capacity. It also has wireless, but because you have to buy a special adapter, I prefer to connect it by cable.

the problem is that the DVD player is two rooms away and I have to run this long cable to it.

However, I do have a Dlink 524 router. If I plug in the Dlink next to the dvd player I won't need a long cable and the resulting mess of wires running through the house.

is there a way to make the Dlink pick up the signal from the Netgear and then just connect the dlink directly to the DVD player?

I know that it does not have the requisite Wireless Bridge (or AP Client) mode. If it has an AP Mode you could try that and see if you can get it working, but I doubt it has AP Mode and seriously doubt that it will work as you desire.
