    Hi,

    When I open an e-mail in outlook which contains a link to a web site, I click it but it does not direct me to the web site. Have I click some kind of security option which I shouldn't have?

    Thanks

    Simon

    You could try the following troubleshooting suggestions:

    1) IE -> Tools -> Internet Options
    2) General tab delete related cookies (or save to disk first) and temporary internet files, including all offline content
    3) Advanced tab--> restore defaults and click Apply
    4) Programs tab -> reset web setting and back on General, type in your desired home page after the reset. Also check default Email program here for accuracy.
    5) Privacy tab Default levels
    6) Security tab and for each zone set levels to Default Levels then click OK...
    7) Close IE for settings changes to take, reboot and try again

    Check restricted zones, if problem links listed there.

    Also, as you'll probably see or have already seen, these files may need to be verified. For Windows XP - check system files as follows
    -> Start-run- sfc /scannow (space after sfc) and have Windows XP disk handy.

    May need to check and verify these were correct versions and properly registered. The msjava.dll may or may not apply; should upgrade to Sun Java, version 2 1.42.06 ,
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 urlmon.dll
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 Msjava.dll
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 Browseui.dll
    Start-->Run-->regsvr32 Shell32.dll

    Hi,

    I have reset my defaults as per your reply 1-7 with no joy. Can you go into more detail on the second part of your post as I do not understand it.

    Thanks

    Simon

    Hi Simon71

    Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options > Program tab

    1. In the Email: field does Microsoft Outlook show in the window?
      If not, click on the drop down arrow and select it.
    2. Also, remove if there, the checkmark for: Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser.
    3. Click on Reset Web Settings
    Apply, OK, to save and close.

    ______________________________________________________________

    Copy or print out the following commands since you will need to close all your windows,
    Start > Run
    Key in:
    regsvr32 urlmon.dll

    You should see a message for each .dll saying if the command was successful or not so wait for it.

    If the option for Open in New Window still does not work, repeat the process with these additional .dlls:
    Start > Run
    Key in:
    regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 msjava.dll
    regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
    regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
    regsvr32 mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 browseui.dll
    regsvr32 Shell32.dll (For Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

    What happened when you clicked a hyperlink in your emails?
    Nothing?
    Blank browser?

    Let us know if the above works or not.

    Hi,

    Sorry, I am a complete fool today. The problem is happening in Outlook express and not Outlook. What can I do?

    Look for Outlook Express in the Email: field instead.

    What happens when you click on a hyperlink?

    Hi,

    I have tried everything suggested including running the *.dll files. Still nothing. When I click the yperlink in outlook express, the main title bar blinks and then nothing! My browser does not open at all. Any ideas?

    For Windows version (Win 98/ME/2000/XP) - Download iefix:
    http://www.winxptutor.com/download/iefix.zip

    It is a general purpose repair utility for Internet Explorer which repairs Internet Explorer by registering it's core DLL files. Additionally if it detects Windows 2000/XP as the Operating System, it runs SFC to restore missing or corrupt Windows system files.

    Requires Microsoft VB6 runtimes for Windows 98/ME systems, download here:
