Linksys router BEFSR11

    this is a one port router i would like to try and turn off the fire wall that it supposedly has on it. Please help

    Why are you trying to turn off the firewall? If you're trying to play a game or some other function that requires incoming Internet access, it's not the firewall that's stopping it. The NAT translation, which you can't turn off, is the reason you have to open ports to a specific machine.

    Yeah, MSN Messanger needs it for direct connecting (video/chat)

    It's the NAT translation that's blocking MSN Messenger, not the firewall.

    So how would i go about going around this? port forwarding or DMZ?

    I'd use port forwarding if possible. When you use DMZ, it's putting the machine totally exposed to the Internet, and it's normally not long before someone finds it. :)
