    Greetings,

My brother and I just bought a cable modem wireless gateway and two linksys wireless pci cards.

We installed the cards and hooked up the gateway correctly. However we lose signals and it "drops" from the connection. Is it the gateway issue? Is it our cards?

We both run Windows XP home.

    Thanks
    RDGM

    then type IFCONFIG /ALL

right click the the command window, select all, (copies to notepad) post the result here

Your IP setting looks ok to me except for one thing. I am waiting to get the answer to above so that I can make sure. Thanks

well we can connect just fine then while playing WoW or even while idle we just lose connection, like the internet goes out. The modem stays on the entire time though, so i thought maybe we are losing signal all at once.

The IP address of your gateway is : 192.168.0.1

Please type in the address into the address bar of the browser.

Get into the gateway and look for "lease time"

Right now that is set to one hour. You need to change that to something much more.

If you have security enabled (WPA hopefully) I would set the lease to at least a day, or evern more perhaps a week.

So get into the gateway and see if you can find anything for "lease"

Under status and local network i see something with our two address on it. I can check the boxes and "release" the DHCP address to release does that mean something with the leasing?

The lease still is set to one hour. Please do the following

START-RUN then type CMD click ok
the type: IPCONFIG /RELEASE *con* (please note the spaces)

wait until command prompt comes back, the type

    IPCONFIG /RENEW

    The post the above again--Thanks
