    Hi there

Not very technical so need some real simply explained help if possible.

Have been using my lynksys router no probs for 7 years. Had a big power outage and lost power for amlost 6 hrs. When power resumed linksys was showing unsecured network and not my secured network. I understand I need to reconfigure it using the same name and password/key as I had before the outage. I need to use the same ones as my printer is configured to these settings and wont work at all now.

I don't want to configure back to factory settings, I just want to reconfigure back to where I was a few days ago and get it back on secured and all fine and dandy. I am currently using lynksys unsecured network to stay online.

Its the WRT54GS router, can anyone help me please without being too technical, ie pictures would be great LOL!

    Styrene

    Step 1

    Launch your web browser.

In the web browser type the following: 192.168.1.1

    Hit Enter.

Then you will get a popup asking for a username and password. For both fields type admin

    Hit Enter.

Then you'll be at a screen like the one in the first attached photo.

    Step 2

    Click the Wireless(tab).

Make sure the sub-tab is on Basic Wireless Settings.

Then type in the name you would like for your wireless network in the Wireless Network Name field.

    Click Save Settings.

For other information, refer to the second attached photo.

    Step 3

    Click the Wireless Security sub-tab.

Click the Security Mode drop-down and select the type of encryption you like (I suggest WPA Personal).

Enter the password you like and click "Save Settings."

Then you can close the window.

For a reference, see the third attached photo.

    Step 4

Disconnect from your wireless network and try connecting to your newly modified wireless network.

You should see the name you chose and you should be prompted to enter the password you chose.

    Thank you for your reply,
Is the above info not taking me back to factory settings? I need to revert back to where I was using the same user name and same password/key that I had initially, is this possible? IE if I put my user name and the password I was using into the boxes will it revert back to where I was?
