ASP pages (made using VB SCript) typically work in Windows based servers. They do work in Linux based servers but are quite inconvenient. This is what I have heard. Never made pages using ASP.

    It is not impossible.

Domain name server will have nothing to do with ASP working. THere is a product called Chilisoft ASP that runs on Linux boxes and emulates ASP. Works fairly well and alot of people use it.

    You can also check out:

When u r saying that "domain name server will have nothing to do with ASP working" then what's the need of Sun Chilisoft ASP. That means to run ASP pages on linux we need a {Sun ONE Active Server Pages 4.0.1 (formerly Sun Chili!Soft ASP) is Sun's latest cross-platform Active Server Pages engine for the Sun ONE and Apache Web servers}. We have to pay for that and install it on the server.

I think you may be getting the terms "domain name server" and "web server" mixed up. A domain name server is for resolving DNS requests.

What you want is a web server. A linux web server that can support ASP must use something like the Sun ONE Active Server Pages 4.0.1 or the APACHE-asp link i sent you inthe previous post. Linux by default has no native support for ASP.

If you want native support for ASP you must use IIS that comes with Windows NT, 2000 or 2003. Is there a reason you want to use ASP? PHP which is ASP's equivalent in unix/linux is extremely powerful.

One advantage of PHP is that it doesn't matter what OS you use.
PHP runs on Windows, Unix (Irix,RISC,etc) Linux, BSD, OS X, Novell NetWare, OS/2 and just about any other platform.

Thanks guys. Finally, one more time i want to run only one page as a ASP. There is no way of running that page without installing something.

You need Chili to run ASP on Linux or Unix.
