I'm looking to create as tool/feature-rich a RESCUE disk as I can in 2 gb.

I'd assume Adaware, SpyBot, AVG, and ..... which others would you include? I'd prefer if they'd run off of the USB itself (in an ideal world). So, does that mean, I cannot use U3?

I'm learning and trying to understand about the newest technologies/options. I suppose buying the new U3 Flash Drives means they're bootable as well?

This will be used to take on location/site to resolve customer troubles with malware, viruses, password recovery, etc.

What tools do you think are ideal for this purpose?

I'd like to get feeback here and get a list of 'best rescue tools' .

How large is the flash drive, 2 GB as you stated, or was / is that an example?

Which version of Windows, to include service pack?

    Best of success.
    Sincerely,

    Hi bugsquasher,
I think you'll find some possibilities at Portable Freeware. All progs are free and are written to run from portable devices. Have a look at their forum & you'll see that they exclude progs that write to the registy.
Hope you find some useful ones here:

Also remembered a good free file un-delete utility that can run from USB
Brian Kato's Restoration. I'm told his site is down but you can get the prog (hopefully!) from this link to Snapfiles
    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html (162KB)

    Hope this might interest you?
    Richard.

Thanks for the links, Richard. They are helpful.

I also found something called SuperBoot CD which may be helpful, also.

My goal is to create a Windows XP / Vista Rescue & Restore CD, and USB Flash Drive, both, for on site support. Not all of the tools have to be freeware but freeware's always welcome.
