I just bought and installed a lite-on cd-rw. It was working fine, I burnt four cd's without a problem, now each time I boot up my computer the tray opens, and no matter what I do I can't get it to stay closed. Each time I hit the button to close it, it tries to read a disc then it opens back up, no matter if I have a cd in the tray or not. Please, has anybody heard of this happening, and if you have what can I do to remedy it? This is so frustrating!!

The CD-RW is a Lite-On LTR-24102B 24x10x40
I am operating on Windows ME
I am using Nero 5.0 for my burning software

Seems to be a deluge of LiteOn CD-RW problems here lately. Do a search and you will see what I mean. I don't think any of them were resolved either. Take it back and get a brand name one...Plextor, TDK, Sony, anything but that one

Hi – welcome to the board.

I disagree with Rockin on this one. The Lite-Ons have a good reputation on specialty burner boards. People have problems with all makes. Take a look at this thread for example: http://arstechnica.infopop.net/Open...24609792&m=5140923613&r=3220938613#3220938613

Update your Nero to 5.5.6.4: http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm

Update the firmware for the Lite-On: http://www.cdr-info.com/Sections/Firmware/List_DriveVersions.asp?ListWhat=LTR-24102B
You only need the most recent (the one on top) as it includes the previous ones.

It might be a known bug that is fixed with either software or firmware updates. Confirm that you are not formatting the CDs.
