Loading New Hard Drive

    I have a new, clean hard drive. Is it very difficult to install Windows 7 on it?? Thanks in advance.

    No it isn't provided you have a retail copy of windows. How ever if you have a big box computer (Dell, HP/Compaq, Acer, etc....) you would need to either clone the old disk or make an image of the old disk then you can restore that image to the new drive (this is the quickest)

    dustjay, thanx for the help. but I'm not sure I understood. I do have a new retail copy of windows 7 to go into an HP laptop with a new hard drive. Think it'll go???

    Before you start go to the HP support site and download all the drivers for your laptop and burn them to a CD or DVD, so that after you install the retail copy of windows you can also install all the drivers starting with the Chipset driver first and the networking/wireless driver next.

    I have an HP EliteBook 8400p. I've installed a brand new hard drive and have a New copy of Win 7 OEM Home Premium, 64 bit SP1. However I want to load the drivers first but can't find them anywhere, even for sale. Can anyone help?? I'd be grateful.

    Yes, same one. I'm relatively new and am trying to fix up an otherwise pretty good HP laptop. The Hard Drive and Windows will be here tomorrow and right now I'm worried about getting the drivers in correctly. I know, it'd be cheaper and easier to buy new but I am also trying to learn what I can. Retired now and looking for projects. don

    You don't load the drivers first, you install the operating system first then install the drivers.
